The educator behind KCA

Hi, I'm Sampurna.

I created Kid's Creative Academy because I believe children deserve more than lessons built around memorising answers.

I want children to ask questions, explain their thinking, make connections, create things, make mistakes and discover that learning can be enjoyable.

My academic background spans English literature, journalism and mass communication, communication for development and UX design. Those disciplines shape how I think about communication, creativity and the way children take in information.

At KCA, I bring those perspectives together to design learning that is structured, engaging and centred on the child.

I don't want children to simply know the answer. I want them to understand how they got there, and feel confident enough to explain it.

Progress, not just marks

Your child is more than a mark.

Grades tell you what happened on one particular day. Progress tells you where your child is going.

After every class the teacher leaves a short note in your family dashboard. Each month you receive a KCA Learning Progress summary covering strengths, areas for growth, learning habits, communication and the next step, so you know not only what your child knows but where they can grow next.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

What ages and grades does KCA teach?

Children from JK and SK through to Grade 9. Each club lists its own age range on its program page.

Which subjects do you offer?

Mathematics, English, science and social studies, with English, social studies, history and geography for Grades 7 to 9. Alongside these run the KCA Art Club, Young Writers Club, Baking Club, Money Smart Kids, Communication Lab, Problem Solvers and Field Quest.

Are classes online or in person?

Both. Every program states whether it runs online, in person or as a mix, so you can choose what suits your family.

Where do you offer in-home classes?

KCA is based in Stittsville and teaches families across west Ottawa. Mention your neighbourhood when you book. Online classes are open to everyone.

How does the free first class work?

Create a family account, add your child and book any class. The first class for each child is complimentary and no payment details are asked for. If you decide to continue, you simply book the next date.

How long is each class?

Most classes run for about an hour. The exact length and the available dates are shown on each program page before you book.

Do you offer small-group classes?

Yes. Alongside one-to-one lessons we run small groups, so children get individual attention and still learn to share and explain their thinking with others.

Can siblings learn together?

Yes. Siblings can join the same group where the level suits, and a sibling discount is applied automatically when more than one child from a family is enrolled.

How do parents receive progress updates?

After each class the teacher leaves a short note in your family dashboard, and every month you receive a KCA Learning Progress summary. Reminders and updates can reach you by email, WhatsApp, Telegram or browser notification, whichever you prefer.

What happens after the first class?

Nothing automatic. You decide whether KCA feels right. If it does, you can book the next class, a bundle of sessions or a monthly membership from your dashboard.

What does a typical KCA lesson look like?

Ask, explore, create, explain, reflect, grow. A concept is introduced with a question, investigated together, used to make something, explained back by the child and reviewed so the next step is clear.

How do I register?

Choose "Book free class", sign in with Google, add your child and pick a date. It takes a few minutes, and afterwards you manage bookings, payments and progress from the same place.
