As a teacher, I have come to realise something very important:
I don't really want to “teach” children a subject. I want to make them fall in love with it. ❤️
Whether it is English, Mathematics, History, Geography or Science, I don't believe learning should feel like a never-ending cycle of memorising, completing worksheets and preparing for the next test.
Children are naturally curious. They ask questions, they explore, they make mistakes, they get distracted, they try again—and that is how meaningful learning happens.
My approach to education has been strongly influenced by my own higher education in Europe, where learning is often approached beyond the traditional “teacher speaks, student listens and memorises” model.
So, in my classes, I try to make children think rather than simply remember, understand rather than memorise, and participate rather than passively listen.
If a child struggles with Mathematics, I don't immediately assume they are “bad at Maths.”
Maybe they haven't understood the concept in the way it was explained.
If a child struggles with English, perhaps they don't need another spelling test—they may simply need to develop confidence with language.
If a child finds Science difficult, perhaps they need to see the concept, question it and connect it to the world around them.
Every child has a different way of learning. And sometimes, the problem isn't the child. It's the method.
That is why at Kids Creative Academy, I try to look beyond grades and homework.
I want to understand the child.
I want to know why they are struggling—and then find a way to make learning meaningful, enjoyable and achievable for them. 🌱
